David Walmsley

Director M&, MARKS & SPENCER

David is Director of M& – responsible for the running of the retailer’s digital business. He has overseen the development of the new multi-channel platforms for M&S, which lie at the heart of its plan to transform itself into a leading multi-channel retailer. David has spent 20 years working in the digital retail space, having built his first web site in 1994. David joined M&S in 2011 from Dixons Retail Group, where he was Director of E-Commerce. Prior to this, he was responsible for the running of, as Head of Web Selling and Customer Services. He worked with John Lewis from April 2007 till October 2009.

Prior to joining John Lewis, he served Xbridge as a Head of Marketing where he was majorly responsible for development of new online insurance brand. He also worked with Yell as a Head of E-development for the website in the year 1999. In the initial stages of his career, he worked with Microsoft as an Online Manager for Encarta division.

He completed his B.A. with Honors from University of Cambridge in the year 1993. He has interest in arts & culture, education and politics.
